since 1978. Mr. Kim is a 1968 graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu. He received a B.A. degree in history from Wittenberg University in 1972 and his J.D. degree in law from Seattle University in 1978.
Mr. Kim also served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Rep. of Korea for two years after graduation from college.
Areas of Practice and Legal Background Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Kim returned to Hawai`i in 1978 and initially practiced with his father’s law firm, the Law Office of Edward Y. N. Kim. In 1997, Mr. Kim opened his own firm, the Law Offices of Bruce B. Kim. He has litigated a wide range of civil cases on behalf of his clients during his career, including numerous jury trials in both state and federal court. He has successfully argued cases before the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Hawai`i State Supreme Court, the Hawai`i State Intermediate Court of Appeals and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii. In addition to his highly successful representation of individuals and their families in personal injury cases, Mr. Kim has specialized in representing workers in employment discrimination claims, including sexual harassment and retaliation. Mr. Kim has represented businesses and individuals in complex commercial litigation and real estate disputes, including land claims and commercial landlord-tenant disputes.
